MASTER OF ARTS - RESEARCH
& MASTER OF THEOLOGY
The Master of Arts-Research (MAR) and Master of Theology (ThM) are 36 credit hour thesis-only research degrees, based upon the Oxford method of education. Students who already possess a graduate degree equivalent to a Master of Divinity who complete this program are awarded the ThM. Students who possess an undergraduate degree in either biblical or theological studies who complete this program will be awarded the MAR. MAR/ThM students are required to read extensively according to one of six available concentrations, produce a research proposal, and a master's thesis comprised of no less than 100 pages of primary research. The MAR/ThM program affords students the occasion to conduct significant research in their area of interest. Students who complete the MAR/ThM program are automatically approved for entry into the ThD program.
In some cases, a student who has already produced a published work that has not been utilized in a degree program previously may be considered for the MAR/ThM.

Prerequisite:
MAR: A recognized bachelor's degree in theology, Bible, religion or a related discipline.
ThM: Either a recognized bachelor's degree in theology, Bible, religion or a related discipline and a graduate degree in theology, Bible, religion or a Master of Divinity.

MASTER OF ARTS IN BIBLICAL COUNSELING
The Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling (MABC) is a 54 credit hour degree program. There are a total of 11 courses consisting of 42 credit hours. Additionally, students will complete the requirements for Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) Pathway Through Certification. FTS will recognize the completion of ACBC's requirements as the equivalent of 12 credit hours of study. Upon certification, FTS will award the degree. Students who already possess ACBC certification may complete the requisite coursework for degree completion.
Prerequisite:
MABC: A recognized bachelor's degree.
Upon acceptance into a degree program, students will be assigned an academic adviser. Upon approval, students may also utilize their Pastor or another qualified individual to serve as their adviser. Students interested in this option should indicate their preference on their application.
